Sarah Kim has cerebral palsy, which affects her speech and mobility, but this has driven her to shoot for the moon. She recently graduated from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism with a Master's of Science (Class of 2018). During the M.S. program, her focus has been print and investigative reporting. Her master’s project chronicles systematic failures endured by domestic violence survivors with disabilities.
In the previous year, Sarah graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University (Class of 2017). She majored in Economics (Political Track) with a minor in sociology. She was also a scholar in the Athena Scholars Program. Some of her most predominate leadership roles on campus were: Senior Representative to the Board of Trustees, Co-Chair of the University Senate's Student Affairs Subcommittee for Students with Disabilities, Chair of SGA Elections Commission, and Student Representative to the Presidential Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion.
Currently, Sarah resides in Downtown Brooklyn, and has launched her career as a journalist and a long-form writer. Her work has been featured in Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, The Mighty, and The Daily Beast.
Sarah is a freelance contributor for Martha Stewart Weddings and Forbes. In the past, she has worked with GROUP Podcast, BBC/Corporation for Independent Media, and NYgal.
